The power of Mother Nature constantly amazes me. After all of the people in Virginia and surrounding areas survived the earthquake, now they have to deal with Hurricane Irene! So many people in the path of destruction. I pray they will all listen to the officials and evacuate immediately. Unfortunately sometimes you have these wild, adventurous types who want to go to the beach and watch the waves and surf. But for those of us sane people, if we aren’t in an evacuation area, we have spent time in our yards picking up objects that could potentially be projectile missiles. My antique weather vanes were definitely NOT something to leave in the yard! We’re fortunate that we have a gas stove and town water so we’ll still be able to cook and shower with hot water. Course we’ll be doing it in the dark if we lose power! LOL.

As we await the hurricane, I’m spending my time scrapping some of my favorite photos! Seems like I never have time between the kids, housework, bills and trying to make summer vacation fun for the kids. You know how you don’t want your kids watching too much tv or playing video games? Hmmmmm. We’ve had a lot of rain so my kids are starting to look like vegetables… And couch potatoes… When I was a kid my Mother gave us breakfast then kicked us out of the house. We were banished until the street lights came on at 5 or 6 pm. Wherever we were at noon was where we all had lunch. The Moms were all cool with that, although there were a few who would conveniently kick us out just before noon! But that was long ago (okay, not THAT long ago!!) and nowadays you just never know what creeps are lurking in the neighborhood. So until they are older it’s up to us parents to keep them busy. Okay, I’m a little off topic! Sorry about that! I plan on taking lots of photos when the hurricane comes so that I can document it in scrapbook pages. I know MY memory is going, so I need to be sure SOMEONE in the family remembers it! We don’t get too many hurricanes here in the Northeast and this one is going to be a doozy! The actual hurricane currently stretches from Florida all the way to Maine when you include all of the outer bands of it. It’s massive!

I just pray we don’t lose power. I mean how would I scrap? How would I keep in touch with friends on Facebook? How would I download my pictures? YIKES! God forbid I can’t do those things. Wait… did I stock up on my anti-anxiety and my depression meds? Be right back…. Okay, I have plenty. But you know what I was thinking? No of course you wouldn’t…. But, I was thinking that I don’t have any scrapbooking kits that would really be perfect for hurricane or storm pictures! Gotta go! I’m going to go now and see if I can come up with something work. And if you are on the East Coast, my thoughts and prayers are with us all. Stay safe.
